Pacea Ion

(born September 7, 1924, Salonic - died August 13, 1999, Bucharest)

He was a Romanian painter, honorific member of the Romanian Academy. He studied at the free Academy „Guguianu" and at the „Nicolae Grigorescu" Institute with Camil Ressu Jean Alexandru Steriadi and Alexandru Ciucurencu, and he absolves in 1950. He made his first appearance at the Official Saloon from Bucharest, in 1947. His works were presented in Solo Exhibitions (1956, 1957, 1969, 1973, 1975, 1980), in official saloons, but also in art selections of Romanian art in Ankara, Le Havre, Berlin, Prague, Dresden, Moscow, Munchen, Sofia etc. He was distinguished with the prize „Ion Andreescu" of the Romanian Academy (1963) with the Painting Prize and the Big UAP Prize (1967). In the years '50-'60 he confronted the socialist Realism style, developing a proper style. His works were realized in oil or gouache and they cover a large gamma of the traditional plastic themes (landscape, still-life, composition), but also in the abstract painting zone. His domain of main interest was the still-life.
